JOMCHANG: materials

Jomchang will combine the very best of local materials (teak wood, granite, slate, sandstone and hand-glazed ceramics) with state-of-the-art imported fittings, fixtures and engineering systems. The external appearance and colours of the Jomchang villas take their lead from the colours and materials found around the site. The colours of the rocks and tree trunks, sand and water are echoed in the villas’ external appearance. All the major external materials will be natural – not to be confused with rustic!

Specific materials defined for use at Jomchang are predominantly traditional. They include an earth brown quarried granite for the retaining walls and boundary screen walls, variegated slate (with hues ranging from silver grey through soft brown) for the roofs and sandstone for the masonry walls (mainly on the lower and rear portions of the house). Other wall elements cleverly employ teak panelling and powder coated fenestration. Because of the extent of control each buyer has over the interior design, selection of Interior materials will be dependent upon the buyer’s choice, with guidance from the design team.

While, for durability, the main house structure will be reinforced concrete, exposed circular columns (found in most parts of the building) will be faced according to purchaser preference with sand wash on lower levels and teak clad on the upper pavilion levels.
