Leading architects from France , Hong Kong , Singapore , Malaysia and Thailand were invited to tender for the job. The winners of the keenly fought contest were Paris-based architects Arte Charpentier et Associés. Their portfolio is impressive, ranging from Europe , Asia and the Middle East . Their focus is the quest for diverse and innovative solutions to design problems. (If you want to find out more about Jomchang’s designers, take a look at their website: www.arte-charpentier.com) Jomchang design team leaders at Arte, Jean-Marie Charpentier and Andrew Hobson, worked together on the award-winning Shanghai Opera House. Jean-Marie and Andrew are just as excited about Jomchang and its challenges as they were about Shanghai , and bring the same enthusiasm to its challenges. Design development and local customization of the Arte concepts into a home, tailor-made for each buyer, is the job of Steven Leach and Associates (SLA). SLA , Architects and Interior Designers, with 12 offices in 8 counties, is headed in Thailand by Donal Coyne. SLA, with a wealth of local and global knowledge and experience, have teamed up with Arte on several projects and are responsible for working with each villa buyer to develop Arte’s villa concept design into a home tailored to each buyer’s individual needs. But design does not stop at the buildings. Given the fundamental importance of the natural landscape to the project, it was vital to bring on board the best landscape designers for the initial landscape design concept. Thebaud Urbanisme et Paysage (TUP) worked closely with Arte to set the tone for Jomchang’s landscape design. Their objective was to blend the natural landscape – with its rocks, trees and dramatic topography – smoothly with the development. |
